It's more than an investment, it's a
legacy.
We are passionate about bringing black families together, whether it's for family photos or a short film to document their family history.
Are you ready yet?
If there's anything 2020 taught us, it's that life is short and not promised. That's why we're passionate about helping black families gather so they can document their memories together. Whether you're documenting a family milestone, like the birth of new babies, or you know you'll be together soon, why not take some time to stop and gather those memories. During our session, bring old photos so you can laugh, reminisce, and share some old memories and create new ones.
When was the last time you had three or four generations of your family in one frame?
Let us capture that for you
During film sessions, we'll interview 2-3 family members sharing stories as they comb through family photos and albums.
Share your stories
We want to capture the authentic connections between mothers and daughters, pop pops and grandchildren, aunties and uncles. Families typically plan an activity and spend time laughing, interacting, and just having fun.

After our call, you will receive a proposal, including a contract and invoice. Once your creative fee is paid, your session time is locked in.
When you contact us, you'll receive a link to schedule a consultation call. During that time, I'll learn more about your family and the type of memories you want to capture during your session.

Frequently Asked Questions
This answer varies by family, size of group and the type of session. Some families have a home where they gather often for family dinners or get togethers. Others select an outdoor location that can accommodate a larger group of people. If neither of those work, we can book a local studio for your session at a rate of $150/hr.
The Black Family Photo Album was founded specifically to celebrate, document, and share the rich legacy of black families across the African Diaspora. If your family fits that description, I would love to work with you.
After you book, you will receive a planning guide which includes outfit suggestions (ex. Formal, casual, etc.). Up to two outfit changes are included with each session. During our consultation call, we will talk through outfits and how many make sense, depending on family size and session location.

Photographs should be printed. Period. While digital images are nice, having physical, tangible images on your walls, your desks, and throughout your home help to celebrate your identity and become cherished pieces to pass down to the next generation. Each session comes with a print credit which can be used towards the purchase of wall art or beautifully designed heirloom photo albums.
Film sessions are extra special because they capture this moment in time perfectly and deeply capture the arc of a family’s story. Beyond the time we are together shooting, films require between 20-30 hours of planning and post-production (editing, color-grading, selecting music, etc.) to get just right. While it may seem expensive, I promise you that it’s an investment you will not regret making. Capturing these sweet memories is priceless.
Yes, payment plans are available. A non-refundable session deposit of $500 is required to book and secure your date. At that time, you can select if you would like to break payments into 2, 3, or 6. 50% of the session balance is due 1 month before the session date and the total balance is due 1 week before the session.
Don’t worry, I’m not expecting you to be Gayle or Oprah (that is, unless you want to be…I’m fine with that too!). I can ask the questions, but oftentimes, it’s more meaningful when another family member asks. For example, it’s a powerful experience to have younger generations interview the elders. As a part of your planning process, you’ll be asked to think about the family members you’d like to be interviewed. Additionally, you will receive a list of example questions to help you think of more. We’ll finalize this list during our planning call, and each family’s question list will change based upon who’s being interviewed and the interviewee.
Absolutely! I am available for domestic and international travel. I am located in Wilmington, Delaware and photograph families throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic states. The vision for The Black Family Photo Album is to document black families worldwide. This means, if your family is apart of the African Diaspora, I want to document it. For sessions that are 150 miles outside Philadelphia, I ask that you pay for 1 night’s accommodations + gas mileage. For interstate/international travel, that is more than a 3 hour flight, I ask for two nights accommodations, the cost of the flight, and ground transportation to your location.
YES! A family reunion is the perfect time to get all your people together, the elders, the littles, and everyone in between. I will wobble with the camera in my hand. Don’t play with me!
